Whether it is a television screen, tablet, or phone… 

the reality is that screens are everywhere! 

We see them and our kids see them. 

I don’t know about you, but trying to limit screen time in our home can be difficult at times. 

NOTE: Keep in mind that screen time is a highly debated subject among families. There is no right amount of screen time for your kids. It is all dependent on what works for your family. As parents, you know what is best for you and your kids. 

How Does Screen Time Work in Our Family? 

To be completely honest, now with a 7 month old infant, my 3 year old toddler’s screen time has increased. Yes, I will admit that I use screen time as a distraction for her. 

When my toddler is watching TV or playing on her tablet, it gives me that extra time to care for my infant. This may not be the best solution, but this is what currently works for us. It helps me balance the two kids at home.

But this is not something I want to do in the long-run.  

I have been actively looking for alternative methods that does not involve me simply throwing the TV remote to my toddler and rush upstairs to go put my infant to sleep.

Reading Eggs does not just throw your kids into a default set of activities, like some other apps. The program wants to make sure they place your child appropriately in the correct education level of activities, games, and reading. 

This helps your child not get bored, but instead, challenges them to learn new concepts. 

I love that Reading Eggs takes this into account, as parents, we realize that all kids learn differently and at different paces. Reading Eggs is self-paced, and provides one-on-one lessons that match your child’s ability. Their placement tests are for reading, spelling, and math. 

2. Interactive & Encouraging!

I was really impressed with how interactive Reading Eggs is. I would catch my daughter responding to the app verbally, cheering, and clapping her hands when she was using the app. It was the sweetest thing to see! Reading Eggs is also very encouraging. She absolutely loved leveling up in Reading Eggs, as she would say in excitement, “Mama, look I got another egg!!” every time she reached a new level. Reading Eggs does a great job at encouraging and motivating kids with incentives and rewards in the form of an egg. Its really cute! 

3. Endless Educational & Comprehensive Activities

There are hundreds of educational activities, games, and reading lessons. 

Trust me, your child will not be bored with all the great activities from Reading Eggs. They will continue to have fun and learn with this program! 

After seeing how comprehensive Reading Eggs was, I had to research more about it and learned that it was created by expert educators with over 30 years of experience! It certainly shows when your child plays with Reading Eggs.

4. Off-Screen Time: Printable Worksheets

When I saw how quickly my daughter fell in love with Reading Eggs, it was great to see… but I have to admit that part of me was a little scared and hesitant that she would be spending too much time on the computer/tablet with Reading Eggs. 

Thankfully, Reading Eggs provides printable worksheets and guides for every lesson! 

This allows us to reinforce the concepts your child learned and for the learning to continue off-screen. How amazing is that?! I love that Reading Eggs thought of both on and off screen options. 

5. Progress Reports

As a parent, I absolutely love this feature! 

Reading Eggs reports what activities they have completed and how they did. This allows you to customize and tailor the activities your child plays.  You can even create a personalized weekly plan for your child in the Reading Eggs app. 

(PS: Reading Eggs does such a good job in planning out their curriculum that you wont necessarily have to do any of that, but you can if you want! That’s the beauty of the app.)

Reading Eggs’ progress reports are a great way to monitor and make sure that your child is receiving positive screen time. We are so happy that we tried Reading Eggs and will continue to use it as an additional educational tool for my daughter. 

It is a great way to have positive screen time! We love that our daughter can grow and learn with Reading Eggs, as they offer activities for kids 2-13 years old.
